Throughout history, martial arts were for necessity. For most of Chinese history, turmoil and survival were ongoing matters, leading to the use of weapons is the primary focus whether for military, securing of products from bandits, defending from warlords and gangs, or rising in rebellion against an imperialist government. As a result, the more traditional or older martial arts systems like Da Liuhe Men have a vast range of weapons. Usually newer styles lack the range of weapons because they were developed in a period where laws prevailed and their needs limited.
In Da Liuhe Men as a part of the more practical and older martial arts methods, whilst hand to hand combat is a part, the system itself values the important weapons skills of their ancestors. Liuhe Weapons were so renowned that often other schools would try to exchange or learn in parts some of their techniques.
We will introduce some of the main Liuhe Men weapons, however, there are too many to list. Weapons area also practiced as dual sets so as to understand their use against different weapons as well, again there are many such practices and only some shall be noted herein.
