The first is the oldest practice in Liuhe Quan, consisting of 66 key techniques and focused on the 8 core strategies.
It encapsulates the principles of Liuhe quan such as the directions (forward, back, left, right, up and down) , as wells the coordination between the external (six harmony of the joints such as shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee and ankle – and their special coordination and force.
Liuhe Quan includes many types of techniques including knees and elbows, a variety of throws and takedowns, fast strikes and kicks and more. One of the key skills is what is known as spatial leverage, where space and direction are readjusted causing surprise responses, attacks or dis-balances opponents. Liuhe Quan also deals with multiple directions and attackers, having to learn how deal with concurrent situations or those appearing suddenly from multiple positions. One of the most versatile combat techniques, no wonder it is called the mother of styles.
