Liuhe staff versatile and direct
The staff is often considered the most fundamental weapon. In Liuhe Quan there are three key staff practices.
Like many older martial arts, in the naming of the staff methods they take inspiration from the story ‘Journey to the west’ where the monkey king was depicted as an expert of the staff. Since he was also known as a wanderer, the staff is called Xingzhe Staff.
There is also a basic practice of the staff, known as Liuhe Staff. It emphasizes the key methods with the staff.
The other type of staff is known as the Da Gan (Long Pole), which is 4.5m long staff. Its techniques whilst effective in combat, are more inclined to the fundamental methods of power and techniques prior to being able to study the long spear.
