Liuhe Taizu Quan Song Taizu Emperor’s Boxing
Taizu Boxing, is attributed to the legacy of Zhao Kuanyin, known as the Taizu (1st) Emperor of the Song dynasty.
One of the most influential boxing methods, Taizu Quan has influence many of the styles in Northern China with most of the different systems incorporate some type of Taizu Quan (noting Hong Quan, Taizu Quan, Taizi Quan, Taizong Quan & Old Chang Quan are terms synonymous with Taizu Quan).
In Cangzhou, the style of Taizu Quan has a long history with its earliest practice during the Kangxi period. The core of its methods was absorbed into Liuhe Men, where this boxing method called Taizu Quan is representative.
Taizu Quan is characterized by swift changes of attack and defense simultaneously, with agile footwork and clear interconnectivity between the techniques. The practice includes long range motion able to reach opponents or escape with ease and striking whenever required. There is a distinct angulation in the lines of attack and there attacks with movements.
